Cyfrowy Polsat Group, through Polkomtel, acquired Litenite - a company controlling 66% of shares in Midas Group. Under the second stage of the transaction a tender offer for shares was announced to buy back the remaining 34% of shares of Midas Group. The transaction will be financed from Cyfrowy Polsat Group’s own resources.
Polkomtel, the operator of Plus network and a member of Cyfrowy Polsat Group is rolling out the first in Poland LTE-Advanced network, offering data transfer rates of up to 300 Mbps.
According to the mobile services quality report, commissioned by the Office of Electronic Communication (UKE), Plus offers the fastest mobile data transmission services.
A comparative survey of the quality of telecommunication services offered by telecommunication operators was carried out last December by an external firm selected in a tender by UKE. Several dozen thousand various tests were performed using SIM cards of Orange, Play, Plus and T-Mobile. The measurements where performed nationwide, with 83% of them carried out while the terminals were in motion.
During the matches Polsat was the viewership leader in both audience groups. The Friday match with Serbia was watched by 4.4 million viewers on Polsat’s main channel and 920 thousand on Polsat Sport channel. The Sunday match against Serbia attracted over 4.6 million viewers to Polsat main channel and nearly 900 thousand to Polsat Sport. Such big audiences translate to higher viewership shares of both channels.
Poles defeated their titled opponents 31 to 25 in fine style and advanced to the main round of the tournament, winning every match so far. The match against France was yet another one played by Poles in the European Championship which attracted over 5 million viewers to their TV sets.
The Men’s European Handball Championship is starting in Poland on January 15th. Poland is among the 16 teams competing for the championship title. In the initial stage of the tournament Poland will take on the current World and European Champions, France, as well as Serbia and Macedonia. All the matches can be watched on Polsat Sport and Polsat Sport Extra, as well as in the open channel Polsat Sport News. The matches played by the Polish team will be also shown by Polsat and Polsat Sport channels.
Still in January 2016 a new set-to-box for satellite TV with a recording function will be added to the offer of the biggest satellite TV platform in Poland. EVOBOX PVR is the latest and the most advanced device created in Cyfrowy Polsat Group’s factory in Mielec. The STB enables simultaneous recording of programs from three channels and has modern design while its innovative software was developed in cooperation with ADB. EVOBOX PVR will be available to both, new customers and existing subscribers, at prices starting from PLN 49.
